If you are looking for a luxury holiday park in the UK on a budget then you will not have to look any further than Warmwell Lodge in Dorset. As part of the Parkdean Holiday Resorts, Warmwell Lodge is an amazing holiday park set in acres of beautiful woodland where there is a really good chance you will be greeted by deer roaming free around the site upon your arrival.
There is so much do both within the Holiday Park and local area that you will easily entertained for days regardless of what kind of weather you experience.
Facilities on Offer at Warmwell
Aside from enjoying a leisurely stroll around the surrounding woodland there are many fantastic facilities to take advantage of including a 120-foot ski slope. Further, details regarding the incredible on resort ski slope and many more facilities on offer are detailed below:
Warmwell Snow Sports Centre
Situated in the centre of Warmwell Lodge Holiday Park is the Snow Sports Centre. Boasting a 120-foot ski slope there is something here for all ages and abilities. There are various slopes available from the nursery slope for young and novice skiers to the main slope which for your more experienced skiers.
At the Snow Sports Centre there are a variety of activities you can participate in from skiing to snowboarding or even sledging down the slopes. Bookings can either be made via the Parkdean Resort website or directly through the Warmwell Snow sports Centre.
Situated within the main entertainment complex is the main swimming pool. Here you can enjoy a leisurely swim, a ride on the water slide or splash about in the wave pool which always seems to be a winner with the kids.
If you still have an abundance of energy left after skiing and enjoying the swimming facilities then why not try your hand at Roller Skating.
The roller rink is situated indoors adjacent to the swimming pool and will provide you with an opportunity to whizz round in style or if you are like me cling on for dear life and slowly drag yourself around the rink. You also don’t need to worry about bringing your own skates as they can be hired on site.
Indoor Soft Play Area
Based right next to the Roller Rink is an indoor soft play area which will allow the little ones to burn off their endless amounts of energy. The soft play area is split into two parts for toddlers and primary school aged children.
As you amble around the nature trails which surround the park you will stumble across three beautiful lakes which are ideal for fishing. Here at the various lakes on offer you will have the opportunity to catch fish such as carp, roach and perch.
As you will be staying in such a beautiful woodland area why not hire a bike for the day and explore the site and local area further. The site is quite undulating so there will be some steep hills to navigate but the beautiful scenery and wildlife on offer makes it all worthwhile.
As somewhat of a veteran of visiting Parkdean Resorts the one element that keeps us returning to various parks around the country year after year is the entertainment on offer. If you are travelling with young children they are likely to fall in love with Parkdean Resorts headlining characters Sid the Seagull and Lizzie the Lizard.
Each evening there is a different show and disco on to keep the children entertained plus throughout the day there are various activities and clubs for your children to attend to ensure that they are entertained throughout the entirety of their stay. Once the children’s entertainment finishes for the evening the fun doesn’t stop as there is usually a game of bingo to partake in before the evening entertainment show begins for the whole family.
Amusements and Mini Ten Pin Bowling
If you fancy whiling away the odd hour or wish to enjoy a seaside experience then the Amusements and Mini Ten Pin Bowling based in the main entertainment complex will keep you entertained.
Bar and Takeaways
There is an indoor restaurant within the main entertainment complex offering a variety of standardised pub food and also a café which offers Costa Coffee. As you enter the park through the main entrance you will also be greeted by a convenience store and takeaway.
There is a further local convenience store in the local village however we found that the nearest big supermarket was Tesco on the outskirts of Dorchester next to the football ground. However, as with all self-catering holidays we like to travel down with as much food and drink as possible to limit the cost of our holiday and enable us to spend as much of our holiday budget as possible on experiences.
The accommodation at Warmwell Lodge is the piece de resistance and is what makes Warmwell Lodge stand out from all other Parkdean Resorts and many other holiday parks around the country.
The holiday park offers lodges varying from 1 bedroom accommodation to 4 bedroom and you can choose to stay in one as basic or as luxurious as you wish. Most lodges on offer are akin to staying in a brand new show home for a few nights as you can expect your own balcony, en suite facilities, fully heated and your lodge to be fitted with all mod cons.
Some lodges also come with their very own hot tubs which would make your holiday at Warmwell Lodge a truly luxurious stay.
Warmwell is located between Dorchester and Weymouth in Dorset. There are many attractions to keep the whole family occupied and a few for you to potentially explore are detailed below:
Visit the world-famous stone arch on the Jurassic coast at Durdle Door. This iconic landmark is well worth a visit as you take in the breath taking views. If you visit on a warm day you could also potentially go for a dip in the sea but be mindful if travelling with young children as the steps down to the sea are quite steep.
A day out at the beautiful seaside resort of Weymouth is worth a visit on its own. Here you can potter along the promenade, build sandcastles on the beach or even visit the harbour to go on a boat ride or try a spot of crabbing.
Weymouth Sea Life Centre
Discover many aquatic animals at Weymouth’s Sea Life Centre. There is also play areas for the children and you can even take in a spot of mini golf for an additional fee. Discount tickets for this venue can either be obtained on their official website or researching online whether any discount tickets are available on sites such as Discount Vouchers.
Also, if you are a Merlin Pass holder you will be able to gain entry to this attraction.
Based in nearby picturesque Abbotsbury, this attraction is a splendid place to spend a few hours. Here you can discover all about farming life, meet all the local farm animals, ride ponies and handle guinea pigs.
There is also an outdoor and indoor play area to keep the young ones entertained plus there is a tea room should you fancy a drink or a spot of lunch. For entry to Abbotsbury Farm you can utilise Tesco Clubcard Vouchers which can provide you with quite a saving.
The Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre is home to many varieties of Chimpanzee’s, Orangutans and Gibbons. The venue was made famous by the Monkey Life television programme on Animal Planet and a fun day can be had by the whole family as you let your little monkeys learn about real monkeys.
Please note that discount can be obtained for entry for this venue for a family of four and children under 3 go free.
Peppa Pig World and New Forest
A little further afield just over an hour North East is Peppa Pig world. If you are travelling with small children and have travelled a fair distance to stay at Warmwell Lodge then a visit to Peppa Pig World should be on your radar.
Peppa Pig World is part of Paultons Park Theme Park and is located on the outskirts of the New Forest. If your children are fans of Peppa Pig they will love this place as they have the opportunity to meet all of their favourite characters and ride on Peppa Pig Themed rides. There are also additional rides within the rest of the theme park for other members of the family.
If you believe a 2-hour round trip would be too much of a journey then we would recommend tagging this visit onto the start or end of your holiday. There are plenty of budget hotels and campsites locally for you to stay over at a reasonable price plus you will also have the beautiful New Forest on your doorstep which is well worth a visit.
As with most self-catering holidays the cheapest way to eat is to eat in your lodge. With all the fantastic facilities on offer within the lodge this is a luxury in itself.
If you do wish to eat out then you have the option of either eating at the onsite restaurant or visiting local places such as Dorchester or Weymouth where there is an abundance of eateries and restaurants.
Again if you are planning to eat out then preparation is key and we would recommend utilising Tesco Club Card vouchers to eat out at places such as Pizza Express or research the internet prior to your holiday to obtain as many discounts as you possibly can for chained restaurants or pubs in the area.
Finding a Deal
As Warmwell Lodge is a holiday park which is in quite high demand it can be difficult to obtain a fantastic deal but there are ways you can make it cheaper.
Firstly it is advisable to sign up to the Parkdean Resorts mailing list so that you are made aware of any potential offers which may be released. If living in the UK, we would also research to see if the offer becomes available on the Sun £9.50 savers deal though you shouldn’t hang your hat on this one as demand is quite high for this site.
As with all family holidays the price of your holiday will be depicted by the time of year you travel as If you travel off-peak you are likely to find your stay much cheaper. Another thing to bear in mind is if you do visit and enjoy your stay so much that you wish to return the next year then you can obtain quite a discount by booking your next trip before the end of your holiday.
The best way to travel is by car and there are car parking facilities on site either next to your lodge or in front of the main reception area. The nearest airport is Bournemouth which is within an hour’s drive plus the major airport hubs of London are within a 3 hours’ drive of the site.
It is also possible to travel by train and bus and I would recommend using Moovitapp.com for further details on how to make your journey.
Is Warmwell Lodge worth visiting?
Most definitely, if you are looking for a luxury self-catering family holiday on a budget then a trip to Warmwell Lodge Holiday Park is for you. Even if you never left the park for the entirety of your stay, I can still guarantee that the whole family will be entertained with so much to do on site from the entertainment on offer, swimming in the wave pool, taking advantage of the ski slopes or if you’ve upgraded your accommodation chilling in your hot tub.
